Our vegetable garden is so overgrown I had no idea that our cucumber crop is thriving. I peeked under leaves today and discovered these five large beauties.  Looked like there were many more in there, too, that weren’t quite ripe yet.

So much for pinning our hopes on Blackie’s secret nest–today there were seven eggs in it (yesterday there were 9) and in the afternoon I noticed the eggs were scattered and another chicken was in there eating a broken shell.  It’s a wonder that the chicken population has survived at all given how poor they seem to be at reproducing!!
