Be Mine
As soon as I saw this felt Valentine on Sew Mama Sew I knew I had to make it. Such a simple design, perfectly suited to felt, and a charming Valentine’s Day decoration.  Astonishingly I happened to have some “stiffened craft felt” for the backing hearts and was able to quickly cut out the pieces. (thank you, Jen, for coming through with some pink felt for my banners.)

Be Mine

This is exactly the sort of design that I like and is easy, but it helps me to see it somewhere else first. So while part of me thinks, why didn’t I think this up on my own? A greater part of me is glad someone else thought of it. Besides, it’s just the inspiration I need. Now that I see how easily to make the bird shape, I’m thinking of birds with banners that say “Joyeux Noel” or “Peace” and they are on holly branches and voila! a Christmas decoration.  So easy I made two at once. (by the way, easy and would probably take some people 20 minutes, but seriously took me all weekend because I never do anything start to finish!)  I did do a couple of steps differently just for my own preference and taste (their original design has the wing not sewn all the way down, but I preferred stitching all around.)  Valentine’s Day is still a week away–plenty of time for you to make one too!
