Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving
Yes, we began the day by dressing up Blackie and Nibbles for some Thanksgiving photos. They were very obliging.
We are thankful for our cornucopia of treats
This year we went to my mother’s for Thanksgiving. I am often the Thanksgiving hostess so it was quite a change to just be making a few things and having much of the day free. The mild weather meant the kids played outside and Paul continued to lumberjack-sawing and sorting and stacking and rolling logs and branches and such. We’ve got quite a firewood supply now. Here you can see the four different rows he’s got going

and this big front row is almost all from the tree that fell

I made three things for our Thanksgiving dinner: butternut squash, pumpkin pie bars, and a pecan pie
My contributions to the dinner
I thought they were all delicious. The squash I chopped up and tossed with olive oil, fresh thyme from outside, and two discs of sage pesto (which I made and froze this summer). Separately I chopped up and cooked some really good bacon. It was a great combo

As you can see, our table was not lacking:

We had turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, roasted vegetables, fennel & orange salad, green bean casserole, and rolls. The desserts were the pecan pie, pumpkin pie bars, and apple pie.

It was a delicious and wonderful holiday. I hope you all had a good holiday, too-enjoying friendship, love, and good food.

  1. Love the guinea pigs! I used to do those types of things to mine too! Secretly, I know they loved it.
