Congratulations, Buffy!

Posted on

Right on schedule! We thought if she had hatching success it would occur between Saturday and Monday. Saturday marked exactly 3 weeks of sitting and when I went out in the morning I saw a hatched open shell!
Hatching Day!
A few hours later heard distinctive peeping underneath her, and then, a little while later, saw a golden head peeking out.
Hatching Day!
Today we saw that she had another one, this one black!
Baby #2
I hope she has more than 2 hatch because she’s sitting on 2 dozen eggs. I would hope she has a few more. It’s hard to know what’s going on underneath her because she is still completely filling the flower pot and it’s only every now and then that you can see or hear anything. It’s maddening how patient you have to be, but at the same time it’s like the most exciting Easter egg hunt ever. I know it’s just science but I just can’t get over that we’ve got these little babies where three weeks ago they were just eggs in a nest!

  1. Hi Sarah, I stumbled upon this photo today and it made me think of your chicks just waiting to break out! https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=451779904871331&set=a.451779874871334.92755.448492221866766&type=1&theater
